Making SENSE of the World with Patricia Moss-Vreeland + Monell Chemical Senses Center
Cultural memory is often created and stored via smell and taste. We have our individual memories and our cultural memories. Often, they influence each other in a flow space of our making. I explore memory how it defines who we are. In my fourth collaborative project with the Monell Chemical Senses Center, we led an interactive table for the DVAA Sustainability Festival. Participants were very engaged that stopped by, responding to the two parts of our program, giving thought to each part of our collaboration. The Scentinel project produced by the Monell Center, and my questions showed how it intersects my work in memory. We also enjoyed many great conversations during the afternoon.
From a participant, "The interactive elements of this table was essential for visitor engagement. I was so happy to learn about what the artist was working on and to be led through an activity that engaged my senses and then awakened my own relationship to myself and the past".
