Drawings and Paintings: Environmental Connections
I explore the relationship between memory, place and the environment. I draw examples from nature to illuminate everything in nature is in flux, of constant growth, decay and re-generation. These remnants of what was once whole reflect upon nature’s process of how things break down over time, and what manages to stay alive and take new form. I found this parallel to the processes embedded in the making of memory. I contrast nature with humanity's impact on place through images of logging, pipelines, and petrochemical and nuclear energy, often hidden away from our sight. I hope to inspire connections and awareness for change.
